Dariusz Dudek is a Professor and Chair of the Board of Institute of Cardiology at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. He obtained his degree in medicine from the Jagiellonian University, but also trained at medical institutes abroad, including European and USA centers.
Professor Dudek’s key areas of research are acute myocardial infarction, antiplatelet and antithrombotic drugs and complex PCI. In 2008 in Krakow he started 1st TAVI procedure in Poland. He is experienced in percutaneous valve interventions. He has contributed extensively to the scientific literature within those fields with several hundred scientific articles and IF >1000.
Dariusz Dudek served as President of the Association on Cardiovascular Intervention of the Polish Cardiac Society (2011-2013). Since 2011 he is in the Executive Board of the Congress Programme Committee of the Polish Cardiac Society. He is also Director of the New Frontiers in Interventional Cardiology annual meeting. In 2006 – 2018 he served in the Board of European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions of the European Society of Cardiology (EAPCI ESC), and is a member of Scientific Board of the TCT annual conference in USA. Finally, in 2018 Professor Dudek became President-Elect of the EAPCI ESC.
His work has been widely recognised and honoured with several awards, including the Polish Prime Minister Awards, the Minister of Health Award for achievements in cardiology and outstanding scientific activity and the Polish Academy of Sciences.
