Uri Elkayam, MD, FACC, FAHA, FHFSA is a Professor of Medicine (Cardiology) and Obstetrics and Gynecology and director of the maternal cardiology program at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. He is a past member of the executive council and chairman of the corporate affairs committee of the Heart Failure Society of America. Doctor Elkayam is an associate editor of the journal JACC Advances and a member of the editorial board of the Journal of cardiovascular pharmacology and Therapeutics and Cardiology in Review and a past member of the editorial boards of JACC heart failure, American Journal of Cardiology, and the Journal of Cardiac Failure

Doctor Elkayam’s research and clinical interests are congestive heart failure, heart disease and pregnancy, valvular heart disease, cardiomyopathies and cardiovascular pharmacology. He has been involved in more than 100 self-initiated; NIH and industry funded research projects and has served in a leading position in numerous national and international multi-center studies and is presently a member of the steering committee of the REBIRTH (Randomized Evaluation of Bromocriptine in Myocardial Recovery Therapy for Peripartum Cardiomyopathy) study and the HOPE (The heart Outcome in Pregnancy Expectations) registry and the DSMB of the RELIEVE-HF study. He is the author or co-author on over 250 publications and over 90 book chapters. Doctor Elkayam is the editor of the 4 editions of the book “Cardiac problems in pregnancy”. He is the president of the Foundation for Heart Failure Education that supports the annual Los Angeles heart failure symposium “Heart Failure- an Update on Therapy” and the annual “Cardio Obstetrics University” symposium.  Doctor Elkayam is a pioneer and one of the most recognizable names in the field of cardio obstetrics, he is the founder and chairman of the annual “International Congress on Cardiac Problems in Pregnancy (CPP)” and the “Cardio Obstetrics University” program. Doctor Elkayam has the distinction of receiving the American College of Cardiology 2021 distinguished “Bernadine Healy Leadership in Women’s Cardiovascular Disease Award”.
