Dr Heyman Luckraz, FRCS, MD, is a UK-trained Cardiothoracic Surgeon with nearly 30 years of
experience in the field. He is the VP medical Affairs for RenalGuard (Cardiorenal Solutions) and
is currently based in Dubai (UAE) working at Mediclinic City Hospital.
Throughout his career, he has worked in some of the United Kingdom’s most esteemed medical
institutions such as the Heart and Lung Centre (Wolverhampton), the University Hospital of
Wales (Cardiff), Papworth Hospital (Cambridge), John Radcliffe Hospital (Oxford) and the Royal
Brompton Hospital (London).
His cardiac surgical practice includes coronary bypass surgery, heart valves surgery on the
aorta and atrial fibrillation surgery with a special interest in minimal access surgery. He also has
a wide experience with the Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) as well as
Transcatheter Mitral valve Implantation (TMVI). He also performs all of the surgical procedures
within the thorax (lung, mediastinum, chest wall) with most of these procedures being carried via
Keyhole surgery – Video Assisted Thoracoscopy (VATS).
Dr Luckraz graduated with Honours from the University of London and is a member of the
European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, the Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery
(Great Britain & Ireland) and is also a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Dr. Luckraz constantly earns the highest acclaim from his patients as well as his peers, using
his skills and vast knowledge to treat patients. In addition, Dr. Luckraz has accumulated awards
and accolades for his work over the years, collecting achievements such as the Clinical
Excellence Award in 2013 and 2016, a Silver Scalpel nomination in 2016 and the JWC Award in
2017. In parallel with his work in surgery, Dr. Luckraz often partakes in seminars, roundtables,
research projects and medical presentations on topics such as Endoscopic Vein Harvesting,
Acute Kidney Injury & Ventilator Associated Pneumonia after cardiac surgery, Trans-catheter
Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) and Cost-effectiveness in the delivery of HealthCare.
He has tutored several workshops about basic surgical skills and specialist skills in
Cardiothoracic surgery. He has conducted several Randomized Control Trials as both the Chief
investigator and also as the principal investigator for international studies. He is an active
reviewer for Cardiothoracic Journals and has over 100 peer-reviewed publications.
