Dr Rihal is an interventional cardiologist who has contributed to the understanding of the outcomes of PCI

Dr Rihal is an interventional cardiologist who has contributed to the understanding of the outcomes of PCI, the impact of systemic disease on cardiac outcomes and helped define criteria for the recognition of apical ballooning syndrome.  More recently he has been involved with structural heart procedures for the treatment of valvular heart disease including TAVR and Edge to Edge repair.  He has pioneered and developed procedural techniques for paravalvular leak closure and transseptal mitral valve implantation.  Dr Rihal has served both as Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Chair of the Department of Cardiology and is a member of the Mayo Clinic Board of Governors and Trustees.
